Ruth recalls some of the lessons from her schooldays....  

Ruth talks about the teachers she remembers from her school days in Adelaide during the 1950's and early 60's.  

Ruth remembers her days in High School in Adelaide during the 1960's...

Ruth started at Dover Gardens Primary School at aged 7, a new school in a new residential area of Adelaide.  She tells the story of the day she lost one of her galloshes on the way home from school.    

Ruth remembers listening to the story of Madeleine being read to her when she was 4 years old, and of starting school at 5 years of age at Parkside Infant School    

Ruth remembers major events during her teen years of the 1960's - the assassination of John F Kennedy, balloted conscription in Australia for young men to fight in Vietnam War, Harold Holt's disappearance and the introduction of decimal currency into Australia in 1966 are among the events remembered.  

Ruth enjoyed collecting stamps and seashells as a child and also pressed flowers.  She shares her experiences of playing basketball (netball) and ballet lessons.    

Ruth recalls the Moo Moo, Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton and Mia Farrow's hairstyle not to mention the Twist and the Stomp!  

The Life Story Circle topic this week is My Youth and Teenage Years. Ruth recalls her teenage years and the changes she went through.  

Household routines are part of growing up and they change with each passing decade. From times when washing was done by hand in the copper and squeezed through a mangle to the autmated washing machine sof today. Ruth talks about the routines of her childhood.  

This week Ruth talks about her childhood and, in particular, her pets from that time.  

Ruth recalls growing up in Adelaide in the 1950's, in particular her preschool years.

Ruth and Murdoch travelled via Melbourne to Tasmania and sailed on the Princess of Tasmania across Bass Straight.  They spent two weeks touring and highlights were Port Arthur and the Hobart Casino.  

The arrangements for Ruth and Murdoch's wedding were anything but smooth going.  Listen to Ruth's interesting story.  

Ruth's 21st birthday celebrations were held at the Royal Coach Motor Inn in Adelaide South Australia.  It was a small affair.  

Ruth and her husband often visited Mrs Barnes, widow of George Barnes of Port Broughton.  Mrs. Barnes' house was filled with wonderful furniture and brick-a-brack, which was much admired by Ruth's husband.  Ruth's amusing story leads us to the deceased estate auction after Mrs Barnes' death, where their expectations of acquiring...
